RETREAT CENTER: The Grand Oaks Retreat Center is a self contained year round conference
facility. It is somewhat rustic in nature and is comfortable for groups of up to 54 persons.* The ground level floor is the meeting room and features seating for up to 60 guests. There are folding tables available as well as a piano and small sound system for speaker support. A dry erase marker board and tack boards aid in teaching sessions. A ping pong table is provided and table games can be checked out from the camp manager.
There is a complete “home style”
kitchen available for use—minus the dishwasher—guests have to provide that the
“old fashioned” way. The kitchen is equipped with pots, pans, crockpots
and the like as well as attractive dinner ware. A Bunn coffee maker and
microwave are also provided. In addition, there are two restrooms
available on this floor and an inviting fireplace completes the setting.
The large wooden deck provides a wonderful place for quiet meditation and
relaxing.
Two upper floors provide four dorm
style sleeping quarters and each room can be accessed from either inside or
outside. Beds are wooden bunks. The lower beds feature 6” inner
spring mattresses and the upper beds are foam. Each room can be locked and
entered separately from the others and each have their own heating, cooling and
restroom/shower facilities. Both middle floor rooms house up to 12 guests
and the two top floor rooms house up to 15 each.
*Although the Center can accommodate
up to 54 persons, Grand Oaks management encourages groups to consider using the
Chapel and/or Dining Hall in addition to the
Retreat Center when groups are above 35 or so in
attendance.
