BY ACTION OF THE BOARD
In addition to the rate increase for 2009, the Grand Oaks Board tackled a big question at their October meeting-what next? There has been much discussion over the past few years concerning future plans for the campus. The Board voted to begin looking toward a major capital campaign to be held in late 2009 into 2010. The projects for which funding will be sought are renovation/rebuilding of the 25 year old swimming pool and construction of a 4 season multi purpose building/recreation center-possibly replacing Parker Hall.
In other Board action, a new budget for 2009 was approved reflecting approximately a 3% increase for a total of $177,970.
Approved improvements include new door knobs for the staff cabins and new concrete pads in front of the Hilltop Cabins. Also new for 2009 will be wireless service for our guests to access the internet while at camp. Access will be centered around the dining hall.
The 2010 camp schedule was approved using the existing formula for assigning dates. A committee was formed to study the current system and look for any possible improvements .
